Anti-snore function

Back to the Auping Smart base support overview

Enjoy an undisturbed night’s sleep without a snoring partner.
If you have activated the anti-snore mode, place your mobile phone on your bedside table next to your bed, near your head.

How does it work?
The Auping Connect app measures the the frequency and pattern of sound volume (dB) in your bedroom. When this pattern matches the volume of snoring, your bed will respond by raising the head end slightly. This will open up your airways to reduce snoring. Another option is to let the head of the bed nudge you briefly so that you roll over onto your side.

Privacy in bedroom
Your privacy is important to us. So we won’t hear or record the sounds in your bedroom. No data will be stored or used for purposes other than activating your bed in case of snoring.

Snore detector screen
The main screen of the so-called snore detector contains a number of functions:

- the start button
- the snoring values
- bedside selection
- settings

Start button
Use the start button to turn on the snore detection. It will automatically stop the next morning when your alarm goes off. If you don’t set an alarm, you can turn off the snore detection at any time using the stop button.

Snore values
You can see three snore values at your screen:
1. The measured sound volumes
2. The number of times the bed has been activated by the app during the night.
3. The number of hours of sleep

Bedside selection
Using the bed icons at the bottom of the screen, you can select the bedside that should respond to snoring noises.

Settings
Tap the snore icon in the upper right corner to open the settings menu for the snore detection. Here, you can set the following:
- which anti-snore mode you want to use
- the sensitivity
- time at which the snore detection should begin
- bedside selection
- Calibration

Anti-snore mode
In the settings menu, select what you want the bed to do as soon as it hears snoring sounds.

- Lift: the back section raises up slightly
- Nudge: the back section moves briefly

The anti-snore mode only works if the bed is in a flat position when you go to sleep.

Sensitivity
By choosing, low / medium / high you set the sensitivity of the anti-snoring function. The higher the sensitivity, the sooner the app responds.
Ambient noise also affects the anti-snore mode and the sensitivity of the microphone varies from one phone to another. So experiment with this a few times.

Timer

The timer controls after how much time the app should start detecting for snoring. Most users fall asleep in about 20 minutes. If you want the snore detection to start immediately when you tap start, set the timer to 0.

Explanation of the anti-snore function’s measuring method

Your privacy is important to us. So we won’t hear or record the sounds in your bedroom. No data will be stored or used for purposes other than activating your bed in case of snoring.

The Auping Connect app measures the sound volume (dB), frequency and pattern in your bedroom. When this matches the pattern of snoring, your bed will respond by raising the headboard slightly.

To distinguish what a snore is from what another sound is, the app listens to the frequency, duration, and repetition of the sound. When a series of matching sounds is detected, the snore detection will activate.
The series of snoring sounds is measured for 1 minute. The series of snoring must take place within one minute. If you stop snoring again within a minute, the snore detection will not activate.

Ambient noise can also activate the snore detector. This is inevitable, but the algorithm in the app limits it as much as possible. Therefore, depending on the sensitivity you set, it may take up to one minute for the snoring to activate the anti-snore mode.

The sensitivity of the microphones in phones differs and is important for this anti-snore mode. The algorithm has been adapted to this and the anti-snore mode works well for most phones at a 'Medium' sensitivity. If you feel that the snore detection responds too fast or too slow, adjust the sensitivity.
